Water Main Break Prompts Boil Water Notice for Some Angelina County Residents
The Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (the District) serves water customers in the Cedar Grove area, near F.M. 2251 north of the City of Lufkin. On Wednesday, December 14th the District had a 6" water main break resulting in low water pressures and is issuing a boil water notice to its customers.
Due to the District’s water main break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 water system officials will notify customers when water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.
