The Hudson Lady Hornets put up four early runs in their state semifinal game against the West Lady Trojans and they made it hold up en route to a 5-2 victory and a berth into the class 3A state championship game.

Hudson put up three runs in the first with RBI singles by Jade Havard, Lauren Gilcrease, and Kelsey Moulder.  The Lady Hornets added one more in the 2nd with a two-out double by Kelsee Selman.

That was the end of the Hudson scoring for the next several innings as the Lady Trojans started climbing their way back into the game.  West loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the 3rd, a walk to the clean up hitter and then a wild pitch allowed two runs to score, but Selman and the great Lady Hornet defense didn't allow any more runs to score in the inning.

West was able to load the bases again in the 5th, but with two outs Alyssa Dotson made a great catch in foul territory to squash the rally.

In the bottom of the 6th, the Lady Hudson added an insurance run as freshman Bryli Lee scored on a base hit by Jade Havard.

Selman then struck out the final batter with a runner on 1st to end the game.  Selman scattered six hits, walked four, and stuck out 11.  Check out the entire box score here.

Hudson, 35-5 on the year, will now take on either Henderson or Liberty Hill in the championship game on Saturday morning at 10.
