The Angelina Benefit Rodeo gets underway this Wednesday and continues through Saturday at the George H Henderson, Jr. Expo Center in Lufkin.  One of the highlights each night is the mutton bustin' championshipsKids from across the East Texas ride sheep for points and prizes...and, of course, bragging rights.

The basic rules are pretty simple, the kid must be between the ages of 5-9 and weigh no more than 60 pounds.  The longer the kid stays on the sheep, the higher the score usually is.  Some kids end up riding practically underneath the sheep when they start sliding off center.  It really is a cool event to watch.

12 kids each night are selected to ride which means we'll have a total of 48 riders.  Every year, many more than 48 kids get registered to ride, so unfortunately, not all kids that sign up get to ride.  Registrations are being taken at Cavenders in Lufkin.  We'll be drawing for the riders during the KICKS 105 Road Show at Cavenders on Tuesday.  The broadcast will start at 3 and the first drawings start around 3:15 and the final drawings are done by around 4:15, so get your kids signed up before 3 to get in all of the drawings.

If you're a KICKS VIP member, you do have extra chances to get a kid to ride.  We've allowed to draw for 2 out of the 48 riders from a separate registration through KICKS VIP Rewards.
