63 East Texas Seniors Named Angelina County Drug Free All Stars

Over the past 30+ years, the beginning of the new school year has been marked in Angelina County by the annual presentation of the Drug-Free All Stars.  These high school seniors are selected to serve as role models for their community by living a tobacco, drug, and alcohol-free lifestyle.

The Coalition revealed this year's All Stars, consisting of 63 students from seven Angelina County high schools including Central, Diboll, Hudson, Huntington, Lufkin, Pineywoods Community Academy, and Zavalla.

Drug-Free All Stars are active throughout the school year by volunteering their time in the community promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. Recently, the Drug-Free All Stars were trained on topics they will focus on throughout the year during their volunteer opportunities including: marijuana prevention; tobacco prevention; underage drinking prevention; prescription drug misuse; and media literacy and advocacy.

The Drug-Free All Star program is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation.

Since 1988, The Coalition has focused on eliminating the use of harmful substances by affecting public policy, laws, attitudes, and behaviors, all in an effort to foster healthy life-long choices for the local community.
