Lufkin Police Officers took four suspects into custody overnight in connection to an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night at Family Dollar on South Timberland Drive.
Ronal Davis, 17, Arterius Griffen, 17, Darion Johnson, 18, and a fourth juvenile suspect, were taken into custody at Pinedale Manor Apartments on 2nd Street, following the incident that occurred at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday. The group entered the store with a sawed-off shotgun wearing masks and hoodies and robbed the cashier and one of the several customers shopping at the time.

A witness saw them flee on foot toward Pinedale Manor and another reported seeing a group that matched the suspects’ description go into 912A. The renter of the apartment, who was not home at the time but contacted via telephone, agreed to allow officers to go inside and check for the suspects.

Three of the four suspects attempted to escape out of a window, but found themselves trapped by a fence that protects an air conditioning unit. They were all taken into custody once the owner of the property arrived with a key.

Officers recovered rolled coins, loose cash, the sawed-off shotgun and the suspects’ masks and hoodies used during the crime.

Davis, Griffen and Johnson remain in the Angelina County Jail charged with aggravated robbery.
