We are now into the 4th round of high school basketball playoffs...it's time for the regional championship tournaments in which we will find out what teams will be heading to Austin for state championship tournament.  Let's take a look at some of the East Texas teams who are still alive. 

In fact, the only Deep East Texas teams that are still trying to make their way to Austin area smaller schools from the 1A classification.

In Division One, the San Augustine Wolves, champions of District 23-A will be playing in the regional tournament in Tyler and they are set to play Kerens in the regional semifinal game which tips off at noon at Wagstaff Gym.  The Wolves had a furious come from behind victory on Tuesday as they bested New Summerfield.

In the same division and regional tournament will be the Grapeland Sandies and the Dallardsville Big Sandy Wildcats.  These are champions of Districts 20 and 24 respectively and they will be tipping off in Tyler at 10 a.m. on Friday.  The winner of that game will go on to meet the winner of the San Augustine - Kerens game on Saturday.

In Division Two, the Douglass Indians will be making the long trek to New Braunfels to play against Menard in the regional semifinal game.  Douglass is the champion of District 25-A and is set to tip off at 6 p.m. Friday night.
