Area Teams Fare Well on Opening Night of Playoffs
Thursday night saw the first games played of the 2013 high school football playoffs, and many of the East Texas teams in action did quite well. The Center Roughriders opened up bi-district play with a convincing 45-21 win over Groesbeck. Meanwhile, the undefeated Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs had little issue with Buffalo on their way to a 60-14 victory. However, it was the San Augustine Wolves who provided the miracle finish of the night.
With 2 minutes to play in the game, San Augustine found themselves trailing Joaquin by 10. However, thanks to a quick score, onside kick recovery, and another touchdown, the Wolves took the bi-district match up played in Carthage by a score of 49-46.
