In 3 weeks, the UIL Texas high school state champions will be crowned in central Texas. There are still 3 Nacogdoches county teams who are still making their push for that title.

Nacogdoches Central Heights vs. Salado

In Class 2A, Region III, the Central Heights Blue Devils will start their regional semifinal match up on Friday evening against the Salado Eagles.  The Eagles reached the final four last year and they are hoping to go back again, however, Central Heights is looking to put a stop to that.  The Blue Devil bats will need to be in top form as Salado pitching has only given up 1 run in the past 4 playoff games.  The Blue Devils and Eagles will play game one Friday evening at 7 in Franklin.  Game two will be Saturday at noon with a 3rd game, if necessary, to follow.

Garrison vs. Troy

The winner of the series between Central Heights and Salado will take on the winner of this series.   It will be a battle of maroon and white as the Bulldogs of Garrison square off against the Trojans of Troy.  Both teams had to go to a 3rd and deciding game in last week's regional quarterfinal action as Garrison squeaked past Groveton and Troy slipped by Rogers.  All the games for this series will take place on the campus of A&M Consolidated in College Station.  Game one will start at 7 Friday evening.  Game two will take place Saturday at 4, with a 3rd game, if necessary, to follow.

Harleton vs. Douglass

The Douglass Indians have not lost a game since March 6th (Woodville 1-0) which is one of many reasons that they are ranked at the top of the Class A state rankings.  In fact, arguably, the two best teams in the state in Class A are playing in the same region and they could face each other next week with a trip to the state tournament on the line.  However, before Douglass gets to the regional final game which could be against Carlisle, the Indians will need to dispose of a very talented Harleton squad which boasts a season record of 20-4-1.  This 3 game series will take place in Kilgore at Driller Park.  Game one is tonight (Thursday) at 6.  Game two is slated for 5pm Friday with a 3rd game, if necessary, set after game 2.
