Big Thicket Brewery Opens In Downtown Lufkin [Gallery]

Big Thicket Brewery is officially open in downtown Lufkin. I've been anxiously awaiting this opening since returning to Lufkin in April of 2013. I've known brewer/co-owner, Corey Crawford since high school MANY years ago. He and his crew welcomed everyone with open arms and we all had a great time sampling tasty beverages.

Big Thicket Brewery is located in downtown Lufkin next to the Angelina Hotel. I tried 6 different beers at the grand opening, and as I am a huge fan of India Pale Ales, I gravitated toward the Lone Star Electric IPA. It was my favorite of the evening, but I enjoyed every one I tried. There's a wonderful Pumpkin Ale, a Porter, a Blonde, a Pale Ale (made with pine needles from right here in East Texas), and several others including a really nice Root Beer.

There's something for every palate at Big Thicket Brewery. I never thought in a million years growing up here in little ole Lufkin that we'd have a place like this available to us. We're happy to welcome Big Thicket to the community, and can't wait to go back!
