Carrie Underwood Sings With Boy With Tourette Syndrome [Watch]
Carrie Underwood invited an 11-year-old with Tourette syndrome onstage with her in Ohio last week, and she couldn't say "no" when he asked to sing. Connor was cool as can be while singing "Little Toy Guns" with the CMA Entertainer of the Year hopeful.
And why wouldn't he be? According to his mother, he has shared a stage with Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley and Brett Eldredge, among others. Gloria Bechtel tells Taste of Country her 11-year-old cried when he returned to his seat at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, but he was sad that he didn't get to hug her.
"He was hoping to go to the CMA Awards this year and see all the singers under one roof," she says, also sharing that Connor wants to raise more awareness for Tourette syndrome through country music.
Bechtel tells Cincinnati television station WKRC that during Connor's bad days, he relies on country music. He's an especially big fan of Chris Janson. Onstage he finished the chorus of "Little Toy Guns" with Underwood before having her check her name off his list.
Underwood is currently on her Storyteller Tour with Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers. The tour runs through November. On Nov. 2 she'll find out if she wins the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2016 CMA Awards. It's her first time being nominated in the category. She's also up for Female Vocalist, Album of the Year for Storyteller and Musical Event of the Year for "The Fighter" with Keith Urban.
