Carrie Underwood Wins Video of the Year at the 2013 CMT Music Awards
After a rendition of 'Islands in the Stream,' Sheryl Crow and the legendary Kenny Rogers presented the Video of the Year at the 2013 CMT Music Awards.
The two country singers announced the vast list of country stars nominated for the night's biggest award, which included:
Brad Paisley, ‘Southern Comfort Zone’
Carrie Underwood, ‘Blown Away’
Eric Church, ‘Springsteen’
Florida Georgia Line, ‘Cruise’
Hunter Hayes, ‘Wanted’
Jason Aldean, ’1994′
Kenny Chesney, ‘Come Over’
Little Big Town, ‘Tornado’
Luke Bryan, ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye’
Miranda Lambert, ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’
Taylor Swift, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’
Tim McGraw, ‘One of Those Nights’
When they announced Underwood as the winner, the packed house rose to their feet in support of the singer, who had just put out an incredibly emotional performance of 'See You Again.'
Wearing a gorgeous white dress, Underwood was all smiles when she received her coveted belt buckle. "Thank you so much. The good Lord has been very good to me -- all of us in this room -- for a long time," the singer said. "First and foremost, I'd like to thank him for our love of music and music videos."
She also gave a shout out to her talented director, adding, "We put our brains together and came up with a music video I'm very proud of."
Unbeknownst to a lot of viewers, it was her devoted husband, Mike Fisher's birthday, and she made sure to point that out, adding, "I got you a present!" His wife's happiness over the desired award is probably a pretty satisfactory feeling for Fisher.
Underwood seemed truly 'blown away' by the devotion of her fans, saying, "The fans -- thank you so much. CMT, thank you, God bless you guys. You're amazing; I don't deserve this." The songstress certainly does deserve the Video of the Year Award, and she has a shiny belt buckle to prove it.
