Effective June 1, Trout Primary in Lufkin will have a new principal.  Lufkin ISD Superintendent Lynn Torres made the announcement Tuesday morning (5/5) that Mrs. Cindy Stewart will be taking the helm at Trout.  She will be taking Cindy Nerren’s position who will be the new principal at Anderson Elementary. Mrs. Stewart is leaving her position as Assistant Principal for six years to become the principal of Trout Primary.

Cindy Stewart graduated in 1987 from Skyline High School in Dallas.  She attended Stephen F. Austin State University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology. She continued at SFA to receive her Master of Education in Counseling. While serving as the school counselor at Coston Elementary for five years, she pursued her principal certification from SFA.

Mrs. Stewart is married to Brad Stewart who serves as the district's Executive Director of Technology. Together, they have two daughters, Kyra who is attending Texas State University and Kylie, who will be entering Lufkin High School as a freshman.

According to the press release from LISD, Mrs. Stewart said, “I am sincerely enthusiastic about this opportunity to join efforts with the dedicated staff of Trout Primary to support high expectations for all students.  My love for education is based on my desire to have each person realize what they are truly capable of achieving and providing the supports to do so.  I look forward to working with Trout staff, students, and parents to continue to grow together.”

Superintendent Lynn Torres said, “Mrs. Stewart has proven herself to be an excellent leader while at Burley Primary as the Assistant Principal. She has the skills and love for learning that make her the perfect fit for the staff and students at Trout Primary.”
