Georgia-Pacific Workers Volunteer At Diboll Senior Fish Fry

When it comes to food, two of my favorite words are crawfish boil. Unfortunately, we're about another 6-8 months before mudbugs are back in season. Two other words that I'm quite fond of are fish fry. Thankfully, these are in season any time of the year. What makes a fish fry even better is if it's tied in to an event that gives back to a community.

Recently, Georgia-Pacific employees, representing Diboll Lumber and Diboll Particleboard, helped to serve some delicious fried fish and the trimmings to area senior citizens. The Diboll Senior Citizens Annual Summer Fish Fry is organized by the Diboll Housing Authority and Diboll Christian Outreach, and it brings together area businesses, schools, churches, and volunteers to give back to area seniors through food, fellowship, and fun.

More than 100 senior citizens gathered to enjoy the food and camaraderie. In addition to the complimentary lunch, the guests were treated to live entertainment, trivia games, and the chance to win door prizes. The fish fry welcomed guests ages 62 and older, the oldest attendee was 99 years old. This event marks the latest in a series of outreach efforts where Georgia-Pacific team members have actively contributed to the efforts of the Diboll Senior Citizen Organization.
