East Texas Rumor Mill: Is Lufkin Getting A Chuy’s?

Here we go again. Someone just called me and asked if I knew of any new businesses coming into Lufkin. I informed the person that the only ones that I knew of were Tia Juanita's that's going into the old Posado's location, and James Avery that will be moving into the old Chipotle location.

That was when they dropped a *potential* bomb on me. They said that they had heard that Lufkin was getting a Chuy's. After I pondered that statement for a minute, I told him that I hadn't heard anything about it. I couldn't confirm or deny the rumor.

If you aren't familiar with Chuy's, it's a Tex-Mex restaurant that serves enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, etc. Currently, the closest one is in Tyler. The next closest is in Shenandoah. So, as you can see, there isn't a very close location. This makes Lufkin look even more attractive for the addition..

So, what's the deal, Lufkin? Is this true? Is the Tex-Mex chain going to make an appearance here? And, if they do make an appearance, where will they set up shop?
