East Texas Softball Teams Continue Playoff Run to State Tourney

The march to the Texas UIL State Softball Tournament continues for many teams across the Deep East Texas area. The tourney will be held Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 1 at Red & Charline McCombs Field on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

In Class A, area teams will be battling in the regional semifinal round, while higher classifications will be taking part in the regional quarterfinals.

Coinflips leading up to these games have determined where the games will be played, which teams will be home/visitor, and whether the games will be a best-of-three format or one-game winner-take-all all.

Class A Regional Semifinal

Brookeland vs Chester, One Game Playoff

• Thursday, May 9, 5:30 p.m. at Lufkin High School
• Brookeland has defeated Chester twice this season 13-4 and 7-6.

Slocum vs Medina, Best of Three (All Games at Georgetown East View HS)

• Game 1 - Thursday, May 9, 4:30 p.m.
• Game 2 - 30 minutes following game 1
• Game 3 (if necessary) - Friday, May 10, 5 p.m.

Class 2A Regional Quarterfinal

Timpson vs Shelbyville, Best of Three (All Games at Carthage HS)

• Game 1 - Thursday, May 9, 6 p.m.
• Game 2 - Friday, May 10, 6 p.m.
• Game 3 (if necessary), Saturday, May 11, 2 p.m.
• Timpson and Shelbyville split their district series with each other

Beckville vs Groveton, One Game Playoff

• Friday, May 10, 7 p.m. at Rusk HS

Bremond vs Latexo, One Game Playoff

• Thursday, May 9, 5 p.m. at Navasota HS
