Deep East Texas Softball Teams Set For Area Round, If Weather Allows

It's round 2 of the UIL Texas softball playoffs, also known as the area round. Numerous Deep East Texas teams from the Class A through Class 4A divisions are still making their march to the state championships in Austin.

Bad Weather Could Play a Major Factor

The forecast is not favorable for the games that are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The chances of rain and thunderstorms during those three days vary from 50%-90%.  1-3 inches of rain is possible on Friday alone. Most of the host fields have artificial surfaces, but games cannot be played when lightning is nearby or when there are frequent heavy downpours. Players and spectators may be subject to long delays or postponements with some of these games.
