Eight Deep East Texas Volleyball Teams Advance to the Area Round

This Friday will mark the last game of the regular season for most high school football teams across East Texas. Some teams have locked their place in the upcoming playoffs, while others are fighting to make it into the postseason.

Don't Overlook Volleyball

High school volleyball is already moving into the 2nd round of their playoffs. The postseason was tough for the Lufkin Panthers. The district champs fell in the bi-district round to Texas High in four games. Meanwhile, all four playoff teams from District 18-4A fell in the first round.

So, that leaves teams from the 3A classification and below to represent Deep East Texas in the area round. Here's a shout-out to those bi-district champions including Central Heights, Diboll (who survived a nail-biting 5-game battle to advance), Garrison, Latexo, Lovelady, Timpson, Chester, and Goodrich.

Here's the scheduled for the upcoming area round of the playoffs:

CLASS 3A - REGION III

• Central Heights vs Boling, Friday, Nov. 3, 6:30 p.m. @ Huntsville High School

• Diboll vs East Bernard, Thursday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m. @ Lake Creek High School (Montgomery)

CLASS 2A - REGION III

• Garrison vs Harts Bluff, Thursday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m. at Longview Pine Tree High School

• Latexo vs Jewett Leon, Friday, Nov. 3, 5 p.m. at Buffalo High School

• Timpson vs Detroit, Thursday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. at Gladewater High School
• Lovelady vs Iola, Thursday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m. at Madisonville High School

CLASS 1A - REGION IV

• Chester vs North Zulch, Thursday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m. at Crockett High School

• Goodrich vs Richards, Thursday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m. at New Waverly High School
