The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is alerting motorists in Lufkin to be wary of work taking place today and Wednesday on or near high traffic areas on Highway 59 near Walmart and Angelina College.

Crews will be working on guardrail at the access roads of US 59 South near Whitehouse Drive both north and southbound through Wednesday. This is a high traffic area and motorists should prepare for delays and intermittent lane closures as this work progresses. Reduce speed, obey all traffic control and stay alert near workers and equipment.

Also, work is scheduled on Wednesday that could have traffic slowed on US 59 South at FM 819 near Angelina College. Crews are scheduled to work on the traffic signal at the intersection of US 59 and FM 819 that will include upgrading signal heads. The work will require lane closures on US 59 throughout the day. As work progresses, the signal will be powered off and traffic will flow in an all-stop pattern until work is completed.

Work should be completed by 3 pm, weather permitting.
