The flu bug continues to take its toll across the Pineywoods.  Big Sandy ISD in Polk County will be closed on Friday, January 31st, due to the increasing numbers of students and staff with the flu and presenting flu-like symptoms.

According to school superintendent Eric Carpenter, classes will resume Monday, February 3 at regular time.  As classes resume, parents are asked to keep their children home if they have been experiencing flu like symptoms and have not been fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.

All after school and extracurricular activities will go on as planned.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the vast majority of all states are experiencing widespread flu outbreaks.
