FM 2497 at Railroad Tracks Near Diboll Closed Due to Re-Planking
The railroad crossing on FM 2497 in Diboll in Angelina County is closed for re-planking. Union Pacific crews are performing the work. TxDOT crews are monitoring traffic control. Motorists are urged to choose alternate routes. Detour signs on Highway 94, FM 2497, and Highway 59 are in place.
According to DriveTexas.org, the closure is expected to continue through 6 this evening. Road closures along the railroad have been happening over the past week and more are expected over the upcoming weeks as this re-planking project continues.
The Texas Department of Transportation will be issuing more updates concerning these upcoming closures. We will pass those along on our KICKS 105 website and Facebook pages, plus we will also send alerts to the smartphones of those that have downloaded the KICKS 105 App.
Please also be alert to extra railroad traffic. A number of construction vehicles that travel on the railroad will cause periodic closures at some area crossings. In some cases, cross arms will stop traffic and in other cases, construction crews holding stop signs will be in place at various crossings.
Remember that you can use DriveTexas.org as a good reference for road construction, delays, or closures in the area. Speaking of closures, if you are traveling around the southside construction zone in Nacogdoches, please be aware that Old Lufkin Road at Loop 224 is expected to be closed through at least March 29.
