Got a Beard? It Could be Dirtier than a Dog’s Fur
A trend started about ten years of men growing ridiculous beards. I'm not bashing anyone who has a beard. When they're done right, they look great. But dudes walking around looking like a lumberjack when they don't even know what an ax is has to stop.
Having said all that, if you have one of those lumberjack beards, or any beard, make sure you are washing it properly. Why? A recent study shows that your beard could be dirtier than a dogs fur and could make you sick.
This study comes from the Hirslanden Clinic in Switzerland according to cbs7.com. In that study, scientists took swabs from the beards of eighteen men, ages 18 to 76, and the necks of thirty dogs.
What they found was that every beard had high counts of bacteria in it while only 23 of the 30 dogs had high levels. Seven of the men tested had microbes that posed a serious threat to their health.
Moral of the story, grow a proper beard and keep it clean. You can read more details of the study from Daily Mail.
