The Crazy Odds of What Just Happened at This Central Texas HEB
Hutto, Texas, is home to one of the most unique high school mascots in America: the Hutto Hippos. According to the Hutto ISD website, the school is the only one in the nation with a hippo as its primary mascot.
There are between 32,000 and 40,000 high schools in America, but apparently, only one has a hippo as a mascot. That means that Hutto is home to a very rare occurrence.
But, over the past few days, something with astronomical odds just occurred in this city of 42,000+.
Hutto HEB Hits the Jackpot...Twice
On Monday, December 9, the Texas Lottery's Texas Two Step drawing took place. The winning numbers were 4-25-27-33, Bonus Ball - 20. One ticket matched all five numbers for the $200,000 jackpot.
That winning ticket was sold at this Hutto HEB 'Fresh Bites' located at 5008 Gattis School Road.
This HEB convenience store and fuel station is located in the same shopping center as a huge HEB Plus supermarket.
Lightning Strikes Twice
The Texas Lottery's Cash Five drawing on Wednesday, December 11 produced two top winners, each winning $20,000. One winning ticket was sold in Fort Worth, the other was sold (you guessed it) at the HEB Plus supermarket located at 5000 Gattis School Road in Hutto.
What Are The Odds?
The odds of matching all five numbers in the Texas Two Step game are 1 in 1,832,600. The odds of hitting all five numbers in the Cash Five game are 1 in 324,632.
The odds of two winners in two drawings within two days coming from the same city, much less the same shopping center are...I don't have enough fingers and toes for that calculation.
In some cultures, elephants, bulls and frogs are supposed to bring good luck. Apparently, you can add hippos to that list, at least when you're in Hutto.
