Dashcam Catches ‘Instant Karma’ Traffic Stop in Crockett, Texas
While returning to Lufkin from Madisonville on Tuesday night, my son, Chase, and his friend Andrew witnessed something at an intersection in Crockett that defied explanation.
Setting The Scene
My son was driving on E. Goliad (Business Highway 7) heading east. A Crockett police vehicle was in front of my son's truck. The patrol car was directly behind a pickup that was pulling a trailer. Chase and Andrew thought that the police officer might pull over the driver of the pickup because it appeared that there was a lot of stuff just piled on the trailer, and the 'roadworthiness' of the trailer seemed to be in question.
However, just before the intersection of Loop 304, E. Goliad goes from single to double lanes. The traffic light was red, and the pickup with the trailer stayed in the left lane, while the police officer took the lane to the right. This prompted my son and Andrew to believe that the driver caught a break, until...
"Why Did He Do That?!"
What happened next defies explanation. Not since Jerry Jones' offseason moves with the Dallas Cowboys last year have I witnessed something so mindless. The driver of the pickup starts to move forward into the intersection, leaving the police officer no alternative but to exact instant justice.
Chase and Andrew have done quite a bit of sports broadcasting over the past few years, but their play-by-play of this boneheaded event is epic. I think my favorite part is "you had time to look up at go Oh, that's a red light...and stop!"
