Looking to get some delicious cheap popcorn and see a movie? Here's the day to do that this week.

We all know there are always these crazy made-up holidays or national whatever days, and most of the time nothing happens for them. This time is different. Movie theaters in Lubbock are celebrating National Cinema Day (Sunday, Aug. 27) with a bang.

We know in Lubbock, Cinemark, Premiere Cinemas and Alamo Drafthouse are all celebrating with $4 movie tickets all day long for all films. There will even be no extra charge for all the upgraded formats, like IMAX, 3D, or Dolby Cinema.

Cinemark is even going one more step above and offering $1 off any-size popcorn, soda, or candy.

The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, announced on Sunday that there will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. Major chains, including AMC and Regal Cinemas, Cinemark & Alamo Drafthouse, are participating in the promotion.

You can go see movies like "Barbie," "Oppenheimer," "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" and "Blue Beetle," "Gran Turismo," "Golda," "The Hill," "Retribution," "Bottoms" and so much more for so much less.

The goal for the day is the industry attempts to climb back to its pre-pandemic success. So make sure and check them out on Sunday, August 27th for National Cinema Day because there are a lot of good movies out right now.
