Texas Lottery Confirms One Ticket Wins $213.8 Million Powerball
Texans don't have to be told but just in case you're new to the Lone Star State, you are blessed. Our amazing state offers some incredible money-can't-buy experiences. If you've ever tried to count the stars while camping in the Big Bend of Texas, or seen the wildflowers blooming between Abilene and Austin, or caught a sunrise on Lake Ray Hubbard you know the value of these Texas-only experiences.
But just because those of us who make our homes in the land of the Yellow Rose are blessed with experiences that let us leave our wallets at home, that doesn't mean we wouldn't like to win the Powerball Lottery jackpot. Last night, a single ticket did just that. According to our sources at Powerball, the game's top prize of $213.8 million will be changing the life of a lucky lottery player in the very near future.
Here's what we know about Monday's Powerball drawing for August 12, 2024.
The numbers that we saw rolling out of the hopper were:
09 22 57 67 68 Powerball 14 Power Play x3
Please use those numbers for reference but before you attempt to claim a prize you'll want to verify your ticket at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites can confirm your winnings and explain how to claim your prize.
Our sources at the Texas Lottery in Austin have suggested that other than the jackpot winner, last night's Powerball game was really lackluster for Texas players. The state had fifty-five tickets that earned a $100 prize. There were twenty-four others that earned a prize of $300. The rest of the winners were in the $21 and $7 dollar category.
We also learned from our connections with the Texas Lottery that the jackpot winner was not sold in Texas. That ticket was sold via the Pennsylvania Lottery. We have reached out to the Pennsylvania Lottery and to Powerball for further details on the big-money winner and hope to update that information later this morning.
Meanwhile, your next chance to be an instant millionaire will happen with tonight's Mega Millions game. That multi-state lottery features a top prize of $435 million. That's the estimated annuitized jackpot. The lump sum payout is estimated to be $212.4 million or almost what last night's Powerball annuitized jackpot was worth.
As you've probably figured out playing lottery games is not a guaranteed source of income. Most people lose money. You will probably lose money too if you play. As long as you realize that and don't go overboard playing lottery games can be a lot of fun. However, the dark side of games of chance comes in the form of gambling addiction. If you have a problem, get help. Call 1-800-GAMBLER the call and the referrals are free. Good Luck.
