Just a Few Days Until the $20,000 East Texas Scavenger Hunt
Back in early February, Lufkin was basically transformed into the old movie, 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'. This 1963 film has an all-star cast attempting to find a treasure and the antics they go through to find it are hilarious.
It was called the East Texas Scavenger Hunt and it was orchestrated by Brandon Belt and his friends and family. Belt is the Hudson, Texas native who plays first base for the San Francisco Giants. The Major Leaguer loves giving back to his community and he loves to be entertained and for the folks around him to have fun, hence, the East Texas Scavenger Hunt Series was born.
In February, clues were given on their Facebook page as to the location of a $10,000 payout -- and the madness began. Ultimately, the emblem marking the $10,000 was found in Downtown Lufkin in Louis Bronaugh Park inside the Eagles Nest statue.
Here's a listing of where clues for that scavenger hunt were found:
Since that time, Brandon Belt has giving away other valuable prizes through the East Texas Scavenger Hunt portal, from Best Buy gift cards to a family vacation to Disney World. Plus, as early as July, he teased that another scavenger hunt would be coming in October, this time with a payout of $20,000.
Well, we are starting to get spoon fed some more details. The hunt for the $20K will take place on Saturday, October 30 beginning at 9 am. So far, that's the only recent detail released as of this posting. For more updates, be sure to follow the East Texas Scavenger Hunt Facebook Page.
We don't have any hints or insider information to pass along, but, come October 30, we would suggest not wearing any clothing that has anything to do with the Los Angeles Dodgers -- you may get disqualified.
Speaking of Brandon Belt...don't forget about the big fishing tournament he's hosting early in 2022.
