Kings of Leon Sing George Strait ‘Amarillo By Morning’ During RodeoHouston Debut
Did you know that Kings of Leon's "Sex on Fire" is the 10th-most downloaded song in the United Kingdom? Well it is. Also, did you know if you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a George Strait cover in the set. Nashville natives Kings of Leon know this.
On Monday night the rock band honored one of the greatest during their Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo debut. YES, we know, you trolls, that George Strait didn't write the song, that distinction goes to the great Paul Alexander Fraser and Terry Stafford. But George did sing it to the top of the charts and into millions of hearts.
Over 60,000 fans showed up on a Monday night to NRG Stadium to take in their show and were greeted with a smashup of “Back Down South,” and King George's “Amarillo By Morning.” Strait will take the largest stage in Texas to close out the concert series at RodeoHouston on Sunday, March 17th.
Check out the video above, the guys break into the Strait cover about the 2:45 mark. Enjoy!
