It's been a while since I have last seen Lorrie Morgan. It was back in the 1990s and she was one of the performers at a concert at the William R. Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches.  I remember being there for Clay Walker's soundcheck and as I looked out on University Drive, there's Lorrie Morgan smiling ear to ear while riding on a bicycle.

"Don't take yourself too seriously" is one of the lasting pieces of advice that she got from her dad, Country Hall of Famer George Morgan. According to her website bio, Morgan says, "On the outside, I'm very lighthearted. But on the inside, I have a lot of pain that I deal with. Singing is my therapy."

Friday evening, Lorrie Morgan will be in concert at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin.  The show will get underway at 7 p.m. and tickets range in price from $30-$300.  Meet and greet tickets have already sold out.  Tickets are available online here, or they can be purchased at Paragon Sound & Light which is located inside Sound Tech in Lufkin at 1611 South First Street.

Morgan has had numerous chart-topping songs through the years, such as "Except for Monday", "Five Minutes", "What Part of No Don't You Understand", "Out of Your Shoes" and many others.  Some of my favorite Lorrie Morgan songs are from her Christmas album, "Merry Christmas from London", but I doubt she'll be singing those songs on Friday.

Listen to KICKS 105 throughout the day Thursday and Friday for your chances to win tickets to the show.
