Lufkin Man Charged with First-Degree Murder
A Lufkin man was arrested Sunday night and charged with first-degree murder following the shooting death of another Lufkin man Sunday.
According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots fired at the Lotus Lane apartment complex at 8:47 p.m. and arrived to find a man lying in the parking lot, wounded. He was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial Lufkin where he later died. The victim has been identified as Billy Carter, 51.
According to a report, Warren Lewis, 38, was arrested after turning himself in at the Angelina County Jail.
No motive for the shooting has been released. Carter's death is the Department's first murder investigation of the year.
