Lufkin Man Escapes Court Room, Loses Battle with Granite Ledge
A Lufkin man found out the hard way that trying to flee from authorities at the Angelina County Courthouse can be a very painful experience.
According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, Ulices Zavala, 38, was arrested after he attempted to flee the Angelina County Courthouse during a Drug Court session when state District Judge Paul White told him he was going to be taken into custody due to drug test violations. An officer who was in court at the time chased after Zavala. Before the officer could catch up to Zavala to take him into custody, Zavala rounded a staircase landing too fast and ran into a granite window ledge.
Zavala was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance for a gash to his forehead before being taken to jail for evading arrest and the original judgment for evading arrest with a vehicle.
