Lufkin Man Uses Gun to Subdue Suspect Who Broke into Home
According to the March 15 report from the Lufkin Police Department, a man entered a couple's home while they were sleeping, but was confronted and held at bay by the armed homeowner.
Lufkin Police report that Patrick Pegues, 35, was arrested after he entered a sleeping couple's home while he was allegedly high on what appeared to be PCP. The home is located in the 1500 Block of Wildbriar Drive. The couple awoke to find Pegues in their bedroom and the husband was able to get to his gun and then held the intruder at gunpoint and called for help.
Pegues reportedly told the couple someone was trying to kill him and offered them money to call police. Pegues then tried to get up off the floor and approached the bed. At that point, the homeowner kicked the suspect and hit him with the butt of his pistol. Pegues then stayed on the floor until officers arrived and took him into custody.
Officers found Pegues in possession of marijuana and ecstasy. He was acting erratic, yelling and sweating profusely which is consistent with PCP intoxication.
Pegues was taken to the Angelina County Jail after being medically cleared.
