
Lufkin Man, Woman in Critical Condition Following Friday Stabbing

Lufkin Police responded to a stabbing incident late Friday afternoon in which two persons were critically wounded.
According to a report from the Lufkin Police Department, officers arrested a man after he stabbed two people Friday evening. Kunta Kinte Williams, 45, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident which occurred in the 1800 block of Keltys Street. At 5:35 p.m., a woman who is related to Williams called 911 saying he had just stabbed her and another male family member.
Williams fled on foot following the incident. Arriving officers saw Williams running down North Avenue, he then attempted to hide in a wooded area near Brandon Park. The suspect was then ordered out of the woods at gunpoint. Williams complied and was subsequently taken into custody.
The stabbing victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Lufkin. The male victim was in critical condition and the female victim was considered in critical but stable condition as of 8:45 p.m. Please keep both of these victims in your prayers.
As of this posting, Kunta Kinte Williams is awaiting to be booked at the Angelina County Jail. Williams has an extensive line of arrest, he has 10 Angelina County arrests - seven of those since May on repeated charges related to public intoxication.

Lufkin Police detectives will continue their investigation into this case. More details will be released at a later time.
