Mutton Busters for Angelina Benefit Rodeo Revealed
After a no-go in 2020, the Angelina Benefit Rodeo is back and bigger and better than ever in 2021. One of the nation's best rodeos will get kicked off Wednesday, April 21 and continue through Saturday, April 24 at the George H Henderson Expo Center in Lufkin.
A who's who of some of the best cowboys and cowgirls will compete in events such as barrel racing, bronc riding, steer wrestling and bull riding. One of the more popular events of the rodeo is the mutton bustin'. Area kids between the ages of 5-9 try their best to stay on the back of a sheep while riding into the arena. 12 youngsters each night will try their hand to ride for the most points to be crowned the nightly champion.
Every year, prospective contestants submit their names at the registration box at Boot Barn in Lufkin for the chance to be drawn for the showdown. Forty-six of those names are selected from the Boot Barn registration while two names are selected from a bonus contest with the KICKS 105 VIP Rewards Program and the free KICKS 105 App.
