Nacogdoches County Mother of Five Arrested for Child Endangerment
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has arrested a Garrison woman, a mother of five children, for child endangerment.
The Sheriff's Office responded to a sick call on Francis Loop in the city of Garrison around 2:00 am Wednesday morning. Sheriff's deputies along with EMS arrived on the scene and observed that two of the five children had gotten into paint that was left in the bedroom and swallowed some of the paint. Deputies observed that the conditions in the residence were horrendous and unsafe for the children to live in.
Deputies found that there were feces all over the residence, on beds, walls and floors. Deputies further found that sinks were clogged up and there was no way of bathing the children inside the residence. Due to the conditions that presented a health hazard for the children, and the mother leaving chemicals accessible to the children, she was arrested for child endangerment a state jail felony.
Meggan Barstow, 28, was transported and booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail. Child Protective Services was called to the scene and the children ranging in ages from an infant to 6 years old were removed from the residence.
