According to a media release from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, a 27-year-old man who resides in Nacogdoches was placed in the Nacogdoches County Jail on Friday. The man was booked on 12 third-degree felonies for possession of child pornography in an ongoing Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office investigation.
The sheriff’s office began investigating Rodolfo Bautista Jr. after the family member of a young child alerted authorities that he had taken a nude photo of the child in 2019. At the time, the child was about 7 years old. When he came to the sheriff’s office to discuss the incident where he photographed the child, Bautista granted investigators permission to search his phone.
Bautista was initially charged with and arrested on one second-degree felony for indecency with a child. Investigators then began the process of searching through more than 200,000 photos from Bautista's phone. Warrants were obtained for the possession of child pornography charges based on numerous images, including photos showing minors engaged in sexual activity. One photo showsed a minor engaged in a sexual act with an adult male.
Each of the third-degree felonies carries a potential punishment of between two and ten years of incarceration, and the second-degree felony is punishable by between two and twenty years of incarceration. All thirteen charges also carry potential fines up to $10,000 apiece.
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into Bautista. More details may be released soon.
