Scattered storms dotted the East Texas map on Saturday afternoon and evening.  Most of those storms provided brief heavy downpours and quite a few lightning strikes, however, a cell that moved through Polk County produced a short-lived tornado.

That storm dropped a twister west of Livingston, near FM 2457 and Highway 190.  A storage building was damaged by the tornado, but no injuries were reported.  No other significant damage was reported due to the tornado.

The National Weather Service in Houston did not send a survey team to ascertain the strength of the tornado.  Based on video footage and pictures from the damaged building, meteorologists were able to determine that this was an EF-0 twister.  A tornado in that category can produce winds from 65-85 mph.  The National Weather Service believes that this tornado produced winds at the top end of that spectrum.
