BREAKING: A Massive Buc-ee’s is Coming to This Texas College Town
Five months ago, I posted a story about 10 new Buc-ee's locations that would be opening across the U.S. over the next year or two.
Stores in states such as Colorado, Florida, and Missouri are planned along with new Texas locations in Boerne, Luling, and Hillsboro.
But Wait, There's More
A month later, I posted an update to that story because news came out of yet another 70,000+ square foot Buc-ee's that was going to pop up in the Lone Star State. A new one coming to Amarillo would mark the first Buc-ee's footprint in the Texas Panhandle.
The Next New Texas Buc-ee's is Coming To...
San Marcos, Texas.
I didn't think there was any open land left along I-35 between Austin and San Antonio. But, I was wrong.
There's a 22-acre site of open grassland on the northern edge of town near Yarrington Road that will be home to a future Buc-ee's.
The big beaver sign will be high atop a 68-foot pole on the southbound side of I-35.
Here is the exact location of the new proposed Buc-ee's.
The San Marcos City Council has given the green light for this project to move forward.
Features of the San Marcos Buc-ee's
- 74,000 Square Feet in size
- 175 full-time jobs minimum, with up to 225 possible
- Average annual wage - $43,855
- Approximately 120 fueling stations
- 100-175 EV stations as needs warrant
- A rainwater harvesting system, which will be the first of its kind for Buc-ee's
Once completed, the San Marcos Buc-ee's will only be a 20-mile drive away from the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels. No specific timetable for construction and completion for the San Marcos location has been released.
