One Town, One Team, Unified.

That's the mission statement that was used as a rallying cry at the annual Lufkin I.S.D. convocation Wednesday morning at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center.

Over 1,000 people are employed by Lufkin I.S.D. and most all of them were present at this year's event.  The convocation serves as a mega-pep-rally and networking opportunity to get the Panther Nation ready for the upcoming school year, which, by the way, starts Monday.

In addition to members of the Lufkin Football Team, Panther Pride, cheerleaders, and Lufkin Marching Band, numerous vendors such as Brookshire Brothers, Whataburger, AAA Trophy, and Lufkin ER were on hand.

This year's guest/motivational speaker was Jim Morris.  He was a teacher turned major league pitcher whose story was brought to the big screen in the movie 'The Rookie', in which Morris was played by actor, Dennis Quaid.

KICKS 105 was also on hand at the convocation passing out details on our $1,000 Teacher of the Day promotion in which an East Texas teacher will win $1,000 towards the end of this first semester.
