PCA Shines at UIL State Swimming Meet, Bryan Campbell Wins Gold

Timberwolves Are Excellent Swimmers

I'm not referencing the ones with paws, I'm talking about the Timberwolves of Pineywoods Community Academy High School in Lufkin, Texas.

The boy's swim team earned several spots at the UIL 4A State Swimming and Diving Meet which was held February 13-14 at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio.

Here Are Their Outstanding Results

200 Medley Relay - The team placed 14th in the state with a time of 1:53.04. Ozzie Roberts swam a 31.80 in the backstroke, Bryan Campbell swam a 26.61 in the breaststroke, Landon Campbell swam a 25.35 butterfly, and Chris Garcia swam a 29.28 in the freestyle.

200 Individual Medley

Bryan Campbell is a State Champion! He brought home the gold with a blistering time of 1:56.12 in this event, a mammoth four seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. Oh...and he's just a junior.

100 Yard Butterfly

Landon Campbell placed 16th in the state in the 100-yard butterfly. The PCA senior had a time of 1:02.32.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay

The PCA boys placed 15th in the state with an overall time of 1:38.27. Bryan Campbell swam a 22.37, Ozzie Roberts followed with a 25.60, Myles McGee swam a 27.91, and Landon Campbell anchored with a 23.39

100 Yard Breaststroke

Bryan Campbell added a silver medal to his collection finishing with a time of 57.97 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Bryan's time in the breaststroke broke the last-standing individual record of current college swimmer Mason Wood.

The only school record Bryan Campbell does not currently hold is the 500 freestyle.

Landon Campbell came in 9th place in the breaststroke event with a time of 1:05.58.

500 Yard Freestyle

Hudson High School senior Shepard Smith finished 14th in the state with a time of 5:45.91.

Congratulations to the Pineywoods Community Academy Boy's Swim Team, their outstanding performances gave them 57 overall points at the state meet -- good for 13th in the state of Texas.
