Police Arrest Five Teenagers for Recent Nacogdoches Area Burglaries
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) has arrested 5 teenagers in connection to an ongoing investigation into car burglaries in Nacogdoches County.
On Saturday, September 29th, it was reported that two vehicles in a subdivision near County Road 816 had been burglarized. Several other vehicles were also believed to have been rummaged through by the suspects. Two handguns and a scope had been reported missing.
During the investigation deputies were able to obtain information that the suspects had attempted to sell some of the stolen property. Deputies were able to identify all suspects and link them to the car burglaries that occurred.
On Monday, October 1st, deputies started obtaining warrants for the arrest for all five suspects in the case. Three of the suspects were arrested on Monday, the rest of the suspects were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail were Mason Thurman,17, Aaron Ainsworth,18, David Montoya,18, Michael Ries,17, and John Dawson,17, all from Nacogdoches. All subjects have been charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Dawson and Montoya were also charged with Tampering with Evidence. All charges are 3rd Degree Felonies.
The NCSO has obtained video evidence of the suspects being in possession of some of the stolen property while they were attempting to sell it. The teenagers are also suspects in car burglaries that have occurred earlier this year in a subdivision near Appleby Sand Road. That investigation is ongoing.
