The Angelina Benefit Rodeo presented by the Lufkin Host Lions Club is coming up April 20th-23rd at the George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Center. Tickets are available now at Boot Barn in Lufkin as well as from any of the Lions Club members.

'Mr. Rodeo' Mike Mathis will once again be our rodeo announcer for the event.  The Lufkin native will be joining us on the Merrell in the Morning Show over the next couple of weeks to let us know what's in store for this year's rodeo.  This year, the specialty act at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo is Bobby Kerr's Mustang Act.  This year's Rodeo Hero is Peyton Tate and the Angelina Benefit Rodeo Queen is Jaycie Hathorn of Wells.

One of the most anticipated events at the rodeo every year is the Mutton Bustin'. Every night of the rodeo, 12 young cowboys and cowgirls aim for the nightly championship trophy by staying on the back of a sheep as it races into the arena.

Registrations are being taken at Boot Barn located at the Lufkin Mall.  Riders must be 5 to 9 years of age, and under 60 pounds in weight (a scale will be used each night of the rodeo).  The drawing for the nightly mutton busters will take place during the KICKS Road Show at Boot Barn on Tuesday, April 19.  The Road Show will take place from 3-5 p.m. and the first drawings will take place just a few minutes after 3.  The parents of those chosen will be contacted by representatives of the Lufkin Host Lions Club.

Forty-six total riders will be drawn at Boot Barn.  The other two will be drawn via our KICKS 105 App Contest (enter below).  Make sure that you've downloaded our KICKS 105 App and that you have enabled getting contest alerts sent to your phone.
