I'm not a fan of public bathrooms.  I'm not a 'germaphobe', but to borrow a line from Forrest Gump, you just never know what you're gonna get. I do prefer bathrooms that have the warm air dryers for your hands as opposed to paper towels.  I've always thought they provided better hygiene.  Apparently I was wrong...very wrong.

When you use paper towels to wipe your hands after washing there is a 58% reduction of the remaining germs.  However, according to statistics from this same study, when using a warm air dryer the number of bacteria on your hands is increased over 250%!

The reasoning behind this is that bacteria present in the room are sucked into the unit through its intake opening, then, once activated, the outflow simply blows this germy air onto your hands.

Granted, this study dates back to the 1990's, regardless, I'm using paper towels from now on.
