Deadline Nears for Lufkin’s Salvation Army Angel Tree Adoptions
Time is running short to help the Salvation Army ensure that all angels on their Angel Tree get adopted. The Salvation Army has about 150 angels yet to be adopted.
“We still have angel tags hanging on the Angel Trees and are praying all will be taken by the last day for adoption on December 13,” said Captain Jenifer Phillips of The Salvation Army of Lufkin. “We often see a late rush in adoptions and have staff and volunteers ready at the Angel Tree locations to help those who would like to take an angel and provide Christmas for a child in need.”
Friday, December 13 is the last day to adopt an angel, each representing a child from the community, as part of the annual Angel Tree program. With angels still available for adoption, there is lots of work ahead for the staff and volunteers at The Salvation Army as they prepare for Angel Tree Distribution Day on Friday, December 20. This is the day local families representing 800 children will collect their Christmas gifts.
“Our community of donors, partners and volunteers is what keeps The Salvation Army Angel Tree program alive year after year,” said Captain Phillips. “Your kindness and generosity mean that every child registered on the Angel Tree program has a gift to open on Christmas morning, and parents don’t have to decide between paying bills or buying toys. Please help today by adopting an angel.”
If you would like to support the Angel Tree but do not have time to shop, you can purchase gifts through the Walmart Angel Tree online registry by going to www.walmartangeltree.com. Search for Lufkin and view the gift registry. All items purchased will be delivered directly to The Salvation Army and be prepared for a child this Christmas.
Volunteers are needed to support the Angel Tree program. Call Captain Jenifer Phillips at 936-223-6624 or email Jenifer.Phillips@uss.salvationarmy.org for details of how you can get involved.
