Spring time in East Texas is definitely the time for severe storms.  However, the cold fronts that pass through our area in the Fall and Winter also tend to stir up some pretty nasty weather, and forecasters are saying that could be the case today across the Pineywoods.

A cold front should pass through our area today bringing with it an escalated chance of severe storms in Deep East Texas.  As of 8 am, it looks like the highest probability of strong to severe storms will happen during the early to late afternoon hours.  Hail, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours could be rather widespread, however, a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

All of Deep East Texas is an area of risk for severe storms today, however, according to the Storm Prediction Center, the highest probability of any tornadoes will be across northern Louisiana.  All of East Texas, with the exception of the Houston and Beaumont area are expected to see some severe weather today.  Clearing skies and cooler weather is expected tonight.
