The Angelina Benefit Rodeo got underway Wednesday Night at the George H Henderson, Jr. Expo Center in Lufkin.  One of the most loved attractions of the night was the mutton bustin'.  12 kids from the area rode sheep with the top four scores guaranteeing themselves a spot in the championship round on Saturday.

This Wednesday through Friday, a total of 36 girls and boys will try their hand at the KICKS 105 Mutton Bustin' Championships at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo.  Each night, 12 riders will be judged on how long they can stay on the back of a sheep.  The top 4 riders each night will make it back for the championship round on Saturday.

The Angelina Benefit Rodeo is coming April 24th-27th at the George H Henderson Jr Expo Center in Lufkin.  Year in and year out, this is one of the nation's best rodeos, in fact, it made the top five at the NFR awards ceremony in December.

One of the most popular events of the Angelina Benefit Rodeo is the Mutton Bustin' Championship.  The rodeo will take place April 25th-28th at the Expo Center in Lufkin and once again 36 youngsters from around East Texas will have their shot at riding a sheep.

It's a great rodeo, and as the name implies, it's also acts as a benefit to help organizations in East Texas.

12 young cowboy and cowgirls returned for the championship round of mutton bustin' Saturday night at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo. And taking the overall title as champion mutton buster is Malcolm Deason, Jr. with a score of 92 points.
