On Wednesday, August 14, something happened on the Power 10X Texas Lottery scratch-off game that may have set a record.

This game features a $2 ticket with a chance to win a $30,000 top prize. On August 14, one person claimed one of the $30K prizes after purchasing a winning ticket at this store in Beaumont.

On the very same day, another person won 30 grand on the very same game after purchasing their winning ticket at this Best Food Mart in El Paso.

So...What's the Record?

I'll be the first to say that the record is obscure, at best, and probably not very interesting to many.  Heck, I'm not even sure it's a record.

On the same day, in the same game, two top prizes were won from two stores that are located over 800 miles apart. That has to be the farthest distance between two Texas stores selling a top-winning prize on the same day in the same game.

That's How Big Texas Is

As I said, it's not an earth-shattering record, but it does give some perspective to just how large the state of Texas is.

According to Google Maps, the distance from Beaumont to El Paso is 828 miles. Beaumont to the Atlantic Ocean (Jacksonville, Florida) is 787 miles. El Paso to the Pacific Ocean (San Diego, California) is 724 miles.

I don't think this 'bizarre' record will be broken unless the same incident happens in stores in Brownsville and Dalhart, Texas.  That's over 850 miles between the two cities.

This Texas Lottery distance-setting record is kind of like the record of the best example of a Major League pitcher teaching a young whipper-snapper a lesson.

It's really not an official record, but it's fun to consider...and watch.
