The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a Tornado Watch effective until for a large portion of Deep East Texas. This watch continues until 10 pm this evening (December 13)

The Tornado Watch area includes Angelina, Nacogdoches, Tyler, Trinity, Polk, Shelby, San Augustine, and Sabine Counties. Houston County, Rusk County and Cherokee County remain under a Tornado Watch until 5 pm.

Thunderstorms over east Texas are expected to intensify through the afternoon and evening as they track into parts of Louisiana and southern Arkansas. Tornadoes, including a risk of strong tornadoes, are expected with the most organized storms.
Damaging winds and hail are also possible.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles west-northwest of Monticello, AR to 50 miles southeast of Lufkin, TX.

Straight-line winds of 75 mph+, large hail, and EF2+ tornadoes are possible across the watch area.

Since 1 pm, several tornado warnings have been issued for counties in Deep East Texas. These cells have been active between Rusk and Henderson, Texas. Another area that has been warned includes the area from near Rosevine to the north end of Toledo Bend Reservoir.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for persons near Kennard, Latexo, Grapeland and Weches.
