There are a ton of outdoor Christmas events taking place this weekend across Deep East Texas.  Parades in Huntington, Zavalla, Hemphill and Nacogdoches, just to name a few.  Plus, the huge lighting of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Pumping Unit in Lufkin.

Is It Going To Rain On Our Parades?

Thankfully, the weather, for the most part, is looking rather promising.  There is a slight chance (20%) of a stray shower happening Saturday through Sunday afternoon. The temperatures will stay well above normal with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the lower 60s.  There is a decent chance of strong to severe storms by late Sunday, but, these should arrive well after all the weekend's holiday activities.

So...What About Those Severe Storms?

It's been a while since we've talked severe thunderstorms in Deep East Texas, but it looks like hail and potentially damaging winds are in play with a cool front that should be pushing through our area by late Sunday and early Monday.

As of this posting, the Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma is advising residents in the Pineywoods that there is a 'marginal' chance of severe weather here late Sunday night.  We have a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms during that time, plus, you basically have a 5% chance of some of those storms becoming severe near you. Right now, meteorologists expect those storms to bring hail and/or winds gusting to 60+ mph. They aren't mentioning tornadoes in the conversation...at least, not yet.

Cooler Weather On The Way

Once the squall line and front passes, temperatures will be a little more normal for East Texas.  Our average high in early December is 61, while our average low is around 41. We may still be a few degrees above the norms for most of next week.

Hey, What About The Weather For Lufkin's Parade?

If you're wondering about the forecast for the Lufkin Lighted Christmas Parade on Monday, December 6 at 6 pm.  Right now, they're saying temperatures in the mid-50s with rain chances around 25%. It will be a breezy during the day on Monday, but hopefully dying down by that evening.
