Sweet Mother Of Deliciousness … Whataburger is Testing Delivery in Dallas
The greatest fast food chain on the planet is now testing delivery services.
Iconic hamburger joint Whataburger has begun a trial service with delivery in the Dallas area, according to GuideLive with the Dallas Morning News.
Whataburger has partnered with DoorDash for a test run with delivery, but for now, there's no real set area for testing or how long it will even last.
"It's actually just a small experiment to gauge customer interest and demand," DoorDash spokesman Eitan Bencuya told GuideLive. "It may be gone tomorrow; it may be kept up for a week or so."
DoorDash is the same company that started delivering Taco Bell in the Dallas area. It has since expanded that delivery to Plano, the Colony and Frisco.
But here's the real kicker: If you're going to have it delivered, you better order enough food to make it worthwhile. GuideLive writer Sarah Blaskovich ordered just one sausage, egg and cheese taquito (yum), which are normally $2.95 at the restaurant but came out to $8.18 after tax and a $4.99 delivery charge.
Plus, would the food be good after ordering? She ordered the taquito at 9:57 a.m. and received it at 10:20 a.m., 30 minutes before the scheduled 10:50 a.m. arrival. But as expected, the taquito wasn't exactly piping hot.
Sarah wrote that she hadn't heard back from Whataburger corporate on the delivery system, so for now, it remains to be seen what the future holds.
