Zavalla Man Allegedly Confesses to Bank Robbery
Wednesday, December 6th, Detective Starlan Glawson served a warrant at the Angelina County Jail on Kristopher Montalvo, 29, of Zavalla, in connection to the Nov. 21 robbery of BancorpSouth.
According to a press release from the Lufkin Police Department, Officer David Casper arrested Montalvo Dec. 4 on a parole warrant following a call of Montalvo wearing a pair of white latex gloves and acting strangely in the Frank Avenue Walgreens. He also had a warrant out of Jasper for criminal mischief.
Casper noticed during their exchange that Montalvo resembled the robber in the BancorpSouth surveillance video and alerted Glawson.
Glawson met with Montalvo the following day and Montalvo confessed to the crime. Montalvo claimed he was on drugs and had trouble remembering most of the incident in which he walked into the bank and slid the teller a note claiming he had a gun and demanding money. He did not display a weapon during the incident.
Montalvo is charged with second-degree-felony robbery.
